Namaste,

The Namatribe has left the north west… Went to the dirty south and moved minds, rumbled with

non-profit orgs and yoga studios……. We rocked an art show and manifested some meditation silks

before returning to the west coast. Before returning though, we stopped through the midwest, where

we identified problem areas which are the heart of apathy. Ohio has issues….. No breakbeats played

on the radio statewide? NO radio station on the largest university campus in the state? Wasn’t ohio

the “freestate” where the underground railrode ended in the fight the south for black freedom days?

No radio but the king of porn Larry Flint can run things from a huge mansion across from a private all

girls school (back when he started out)? Wild that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama won in that state…. Maybe all the harshed and silenced energies built up and made a power move! Power to the people!

Now that we are back on the west coast…. We are happening fully and truly, restoring our health and

reorganizing our studio.

We still have the spinning wheel with us and are starting the next round of threads for our new Anti-

war weaving called “Moments of Nanak”……

Will be back on the blog soon, to add more.

Until then, keep that mind upside down!

Here is a flyer we have been spreading around in support of the NamaCommentary. The commentary is played at our art shows, and helps to promote the artists on our label as well as our Fiber Activism.

We have over 6000 emails in my online promotions email account. Many years of projects and trade shows and networking… Signing up on lists and all that.

Namasteezy has so much to say about it, so much to share and so many questions.

I will start from the oldest and x-post them so that th emost recent will be at the bottom of the comments here.

I feel that we can use the comment section so that our project here, our research is the greatest service to all. By using the comment section we can bring a lot into view, and create awareness about many artists and issues. But this should function as a kind of invite to our message board where we can take things further.

We may need to open new forums on the board, maybe regionally the way we did for the skateboarding forums.

But for now, we will explore getting this info into view.

Please comment anywhere and everywhere, communicate and go deep. Please register on the message board but atleast leave a comment, as a question a story, a review etc…

So do you go to shows often? Who have you seen recently? What is your favorite group? Do you go to festivals? Travel far to se shows? What do you think is the difference between industry and Independent Music scenes? Where do they connect or cross over?

How much planning do you put into going to shows? Do you support artists by mail ordering their music directly? Do you like to sport their shirts?

Are you aware of artists from other countries?

Some people say, “underground happened ten years ago.” Then some claim “Independent” and work with scion.

Namasteezy steps up with Interdependent Hip Hop. How do you think or feel that fits in to our troubled times?

At what point does party music become a distraction to our truth process and need to focus on what is happening to us, and this country and the world? When does music meet cause? What causes do you recognize?

Why do you need to get involved?

Have you ever heard of Blitz? Grand Puba? Omid? What Namasteezy Projects have you heard? Which ones do you enjoy most?

Well, lets start with that and I will keep adding to it as we go…..

OK, I am going to load up the comment section now….

Lets get busy!

Real talk ft Grand Puba

One of the best ways to understand Namasteezy efforts as a record label and distribution collective is to look at it from the point of view of the projects, which all have stories in themselves. That is a good way to follow the artistry, get to know it and pick up on some amazing talent, endless blessings for you to enjoy. Uplifting the truth movement along the way, support the efforts of namasteezy and no one looses. We have some of the best activism happening in the country, a ton of an anomalies that create a fun and interesting view of what is happening behind the scenes, and intimate projects by artists that are all destined to go through all kinds of wild stages and circumstances in their careers. Join us, by sharing our music, in the journey of self and other revelation.
Since Namasteezy had been working on establishing distribution itself, it only made sense to step back and produce results by working “interdependently”. While the independent dsitribution collective takes music forward, we at namasteezy take music forward “interdependently”. What is the point of a bunch of independents that will not recognize each others purposes? As activists, we at namasteezy went deep behind the scenes of music distribution, to reveal the attraction and aversion that goes on between artists, scenes, stores, labels and DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES. What do you think motivated those behind IDC to form a collective? Why didn’t those behind the distribution efforts of artists that Namasteezy mostly builds with, those down in LA, why did they not want to bridge to make good things happen? With so many of the IDX projects being music meets cause efforts, to not take an interest in the efforts could put you on the edge of hipster. Namasteezy always supports the underdog, and has put together many projects to create an example of agreement, something positive for future generations for children. IDC was always helpful, and so were the artists that Namasteezy work with on the music projects. But what does it mean to work alone and together, what does it mean to distribute your own projects and others? Others which may include solo projects by the artists you collab with, projects by other labels and collectives. That is why Namasteezy has started a movement called “Interdependent hip Hop”.
